Rehoming a cat

We are currently at capacity and no longer accepting surrender requests.

We are truly sorry that we are unable to assist at this time. It breaks our hearts knowing we can’t help every animal out there. However, the current demand outweighs our existing foster carer base, and all our foster carers loving homes are currently full.
We hope to open up their doors again soon.

We know that surrendering your pet is a difficult decision to come to.
Click on the button below to find out what alternate options are available.

If your pet is an ex Happy Tails Animal Rescue animal, please contact us directly.

How it works

If you require assistance with rehoming your pet, please complete the relevant application form below. Once the application form and photo/s are received we will email you with confirmation and will commence seeking a foster home for your pet. Please ensure you tell us as much information as you can and upload a fair amount of good quality, clear photos as this will assist us in finding a foster home. Please let us know if your pet is rehomed while we are in the process of looking for a foster home. We will contact you as soon as a foster home is found.

If you surrender your pet to Happy Tails Animal Rescue you will have a 72 hour cooling off period after the physical handover where you may reclaim your pet. If during the cooling off period any urgent vet work has been completed by Happy Tails we will require reimbursement for lost costs before handing your pet back.
